SoundChip and Panasonic Avionics Pump Up the Volume with New Strategic Partnership

Portland, Oregon, September 29, 2015 – SoundChip SA, a Swiss-based global leader in wearable sound technology, and Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic) the leader in Inflight Entertainment and Communications (IFEC) have today unveiled a new strategic partnership to enhance the inflight digital audio experience.

The partnership will see SoundChip license its advanced audio technology to Panasonic resulting in the development of a range of innovative inflight audio products for the world’s airlines and their passengers.

Mark Donaldson, SoundChip CEO, said,

“SoundChip and Panasonic Avionics share an ambitious vision for the future of inflight audio. We have co-developed break-through products such as Panasonic HD-AUDIO™ and continue to invest in solutions that offer the airline passenger an inflight audio experience second-to-none.”

“It is a natural and important evolution of our working relationship that we forge closer ties and we are thrilled to announce Panasonic as a technology licensee and a strategic partner for the inflight audio market”, said Donaldson.

Paul Margis, President and Chief Executive Officer of Panasonic Avionics, said,

“SoundChip is a unique and innovative company that delivers unparalleled, rich audio solutions. We believe that SoundChip’s unique solutions will improve our inflight entertainment offerings and enable our customers to provide enhanced travel experiences to their passengers.”

This latest development follows the companies’ collaboration in 2014 where they introduced Panasonic HD-AUDIO – a revolutionary audio solution for inflight entertainment, which immerses aircraft passengers in a fully digital sonic experience.

Panasonic HD-AUDIO is the world’s first fully digital inflight audio system. It delivers an authentic, high definition sound reproduction, the way that artists intended, and features an impressive array of exciting audio features, including hybrid noise canceling, 3D surround sound, open-ear talk-through and VoiP calling.

Airline customers wishing to learn more about SoundChip and Panasonic’s collaboration, including joint initiatives such as Panasonic HD-AUDIO, should contact Soundchip directly or their airline’s Panasonic representative.
