Soundchip commercial aviation partners showcase the future of in-flight audio at APEX EXPO 2013

Panasonic Avionics and Long Prosper present next generation in-flight audio solutions based on Soundchip HD-PA® components to global airlines.

Anaheim, United States, 9 September 2013, Soundchip SA, a Swiss based innovator in audio-systems technology and originator of the High-Definition-Personal-Audio™ (HD-PA®) Reference announced today that its commercial aviation partners, Panasonic Avionics Corporation and Long Prosper, are showcasing next generation in-flight audio solutions based on HD-PA components at this year’s Airline Passenger Experience (APEX) Exhibition, held at the Anaheim Convention Centre, 9-12 September.

Mark Donaldson, Soundchip’s CEO said, “When it comes to in-flight audio, it’s clear that there’s room for improvement. At Soundchip we are changing this. Drawing upon our consumer electronics expertise and development-level relationships with leading IFEC equipment and headphone suppliers, our company is driving a revolution in in-flight audio – enabling airlines to offer the same sonic thrills in the air as passengers are used to on the ground.”

In 2011, Soundchip joined forces with Panasonic Avionics Corporation (stand #1205) to modernise the in-flight audio experience. “Our mission was to rethink all aspects of a passenger aircraft’s audio delivery system, from the formatting of media through to the headphone itself. Two years on and this work is nearing completion, the outcomes of which are nothing short of game changing”, said Donaldson.

Earlier this year, Soundchip also initiated a substantive collaboration with Long Prosper (stand #1331) aimed at bringing the very best of consumer-style headphones to the world of commercial aviation. By combining the two companies’ respective strengths in design, technology and manufacturing, Soundchip and Long Prosper have become a force of change in the headphone market, developing and supplying products that offer unprecedented performance and value.
